The world's slowest Porsche



Here is a video showing the new Ferdinand GT3 RS, a zero-emissions car named after the legendary Porsche founder. Unfortunately the car has nothing to do with Porsche, other than being shaped like a 911.

It features a "gold-painted" exterior, has a big rear wing and "massive air inlets at the front spoiler to save the driver from sweating too much." Amazingly it weighs just 99.6kg (219.6 lbs). Even more amazing is that it does not have an engine, "because of economic reasons."

Mercedes-Benz is really found on hydrogen fuel cells powering automobiles. In fact, I’ve driven what’s mainly the production version of its F-Cell, a tidy B-Class car that’s entering selected lease and fleet use in the U.S. and Europe in 2010—and full-scale production and sales in 2015.

My drive of the Mercedes F-Cell came in the south of France, from Nice into the Principality of Monaco and return. The Monaco venue is most allot in that Prince Albert is a particularly ardent environmentalist. And, of course, the sole emissions of a fuel cell car are a little heat and the purest of water.

A fellow worker and I drove the F-Cell into Monaco along the Bas Corniche, the lower road evasion Riviera harbors. Our return trip came on the Grande Corniche and autoroute, where I ever so briefly probed the car’s claimed 170-km/h (105-mph) top speed. concern , our trip wasn’t long enough to assess a reported range of 400 km (248 miles) based on the F-Cell’s relatively modest 3.7 kg. of on-board H2 compressed to 10,000 psi.

The big news is production readiness of the F-Cell. It’ll be in selective U.S. fleets by mid-2010, reportedly at a lease price comparable to that of a fully-equipped C-Class (perhaps $500/month?). Availability to ordinary folks is scheduled for 2015.

The Audi TT's new clothes - More than a product improvement

Audi's Über Cool Soccer Table Enters Production, on Sale for €12,900 / US$15,900



Remember that awesome -conceptual then- soccer table from Audi's design team that we showed you back in the summer of 2008? Well, almost two years later and Audi has taken the decision to produce the soccer table in a limited series of hand-made models.

Featuring typical Audi design traits and materials such the aluminum casing, the soccer table is said to meet "the high standards demanded in professional tournaments." Only 20 of these football tables will be built initially by Leonhart, a Bavarian company that has specialized in table soccer games since 1949.

Each [hand-made] game table is priced at a hefty €12,900, which comes to around US$15,900 at the current exchange rates.

VW Polo GTI review



A turbocharger and a supercharger underpin VW's new Polo GTI, but is it any good to drive?

What is it?
Meet the new Golf GTI. In spirit, anyway. The new Polo GTI is almost exactly the same size as a Golf GTI Mk2. Reflecting today's downsizing trend, the engine is smaller than in those early GTIs, its pistons displacing a mere 1.4 litres. But with the help of a supercharger and a turbocharger, there's 178bhp on tap. Prices haven’t yet been announced, but expect them to be about £1000 above the £15,700 Skoda Fabia vRS which uses the same engine and drivetrain.

Technical highlights?
The TSI Twincharger engine, which, combing the benefits of super- and turbo-charging, offers strong punch from low down right through to 7000rpm. Seventh gear's long-striding, economy-hyping 27mph/1000rpm calms the ardour a bit (but allows a remarkable 142mph top speed). The engine note sets the scene, its snorty, gruff induction noise pitching you straight into your own private trackday fantasy.

What’s it like to drive?
As with the engine, the chassis is friskier than the Golf's and less the civilised tourer. It steers firmly and positively with a good bite from the front tyres (mounted on Golf GTI-type 17in wheels), the nose tucks in keenly but the ESP light is easily triggered as you power out of corners.

There's a touch of torque steer, too, the good sort that adds to the feistiness. The tail edges out just enough not to feel inert if you throttle-off, but – as usual in a VW Group car – the warning light flashes annoyingly if the ESP is switched out. Over bumps the ride is firm, maybe too firm for the UK, but it's very well damped with no after-bounce or choppiness.

Here is the best attempt yet at a convincing GTI-badged Polo, a car with its own personality freed from the shadow of the Golf. It looks right for the role, too, with its deep valances, honeycomb grille, red stripes and twin tailpipes, plus a mini-GTI interior treatment.

How does it compare?
The Polo GTi joins a pair of VW Group rivals in the shape of the Skoda Fabia vRS and Seat Ibiza Cupra – both of which use the same drivetrain and offer a similar blend of talents. We’ve driven the Ibiza enough to know that the Polo is going to have its work cut-out offering the same level of driver appeal as a Renaultsport Clio 200 or Mini Cooper S, while newer rivals such as the Citroen DS3 should keep it honest, too.

Anything else I need to know?
One big snag: there's no manual transmission alternative. Some might favour the DSG idea, but manual-lovers will dismiss the Polo out of hand. Word from the UK importer is that this could change.

Two-Door Porsche Cayenne Turbo By Merdad



As you might know Uwe Gemballa has gone missing so his famous tuning company went bankrupt and closed doors. And apparently all of their partners are now starting their own business! One of them is a UK tuner called Merdad, which must be the name of the owner, and he’s come up with a new and exciting project: a 2-door Porsche Cayenne.

This sporty SUV is based on the 2011 Porsche Cayenne 2 Turbo and comes with a massive body kit, huge wheels and a bespoke interior. The body looks pretty nice actually, and it begs the question why don’t all sport SUVs come as a 2-door?! The modified cabin however, is a bit preposterous! Merdad says that the engine is also upgraded to 750 hp.

It’s got everything it needs to become a popular car between millionaires of Dubai and Monte Carlo!

RUF CTR3 Ride at the Nordschleife



Earlier, at the Michelin Tuning and Bespoke auto manufacturer’s day at the Nurburgring in Germany, Porsche outfitter and tuning outfit, RUF, fetched along the mighty looking Ruf CTR 3 and allowed me a few passenger laps. Like all RUF models, the CTR 3 is Porsche based, but the origin of its chassis has never been disclosed. I suspect 60% of the chassis to be reconstructed from the front wing and slightly longer wheelbase to accommodate repositioning of the twin-turbo flat-six boxer engine. The CTR3’s ambition and heritage was to replace the now legendary 469bhp CTR ‘Yellow Bird’ and the 520bhp CTR2 that followed a decade later.

Using essentially the same motor as Ruf’s 911-based Rt 12, but with an additional 50hp, the CTR3’s 700bhp is supported by a jaw thumping 656lb ft of torque at 4000rpm. Therefore directing all the power to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gear box. This thrusts the CTR3 to 0-124mph in 9.6sec. However, no matter what the figures tell you, on the Nordschleife in Germany, I expected it to be restrained in the many uncompromising corners of the northloop.

This definitely was not the case. Immediately after leaving the car park and cruising down through Tiergarten, I realized this was no normal press lap. Hatzenbach and Quiddelbacher were a blur and I was overwhelmed by the power and low end lagless power delivered by the twin turbochargers.

At the peak of Flugplatz, the car jumped slightly as it aggressively positioned itself for the tight right hand corner. As the car powered its way down towards the corner at Aremberg, jumping slightly at Schwedenkreuz, it entered the forest under the bridge at Fuchsrohre into Adenauer Forst.

This is where the familiarity of the previous Porsches’ handling capabilities came into play, albeit with more power and composure. The next few corners were textbook racing as he stormed his way to the Karussell. I was not expecting to experience the Karusell, due to the reduced suspension height. To my amazement, he planted the CTR3 into the corner as the car miraculously dampened out most of the concrete bank vibration, to which the Karussell is famous for.

155MPH…he still had 2,500 rpms left!

Then we went up the hill to Hohe Acht, to the famous spectators’ area (Brunnchen) where he toyed with the throttle letting the back over steer slightly. He did the same at Pflantzgarten. He shot through the mini Karussell with the same composure, then down the final straight at Dottinger Hohe, where the driver teased me at 155mph saying that he still had 2,500 rpms left!

People compare this car to the Porsche Carrera GT and the Pagani Zonda-F; my opinion is that there is no comparison. This is a RUF CTR and a 3 year old one at that!

The ABT R8 GTR – Testing at the Nurburgring



Sure, the R8 is not exactly snail like, and this is even more so once the sports car has been tuned by ABT Sportsline. The result is a real workhorse, which does not just hint at power, but also doesn’t have a single gram of fat on its body unlike its driver. With the limited version R8 GT R (with only 25 units available) engineers and designers have gone one step further: experience from motorsport flowed into the design, and all the components have been systematically trimmed to ensure a light-weight construction and optimal weight distribution. As a result not just the bonnet, front and rear aprons, the adjustable rear wing or the tailgate are made of carbon, but the outline edge on the rear, the external mirrors and the door panel are also made of the same material. The side windows are made of Makrolon – the high-tech polycarbonate does not just reduce weight, but also has impressive strength properties. The result: the ABT R8 GT R is a proud 100 kg lighter than its counterpart.

The well-trained sports car has enormous performance potential: instead of the series-standard 525HP (386 kW), the 5.2 FSI in the ABT R8 GT R provides a massive 620HP (456 kW) and as a result the light car travels extremely quickly: the top speed is 325 km/h, it does 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and the GT R reaches the 200km/h mark in a mere 9.9 seconds. In order to ensure that the power can be optimally applied on the road and on the race track, height-adjustable ABT Sports suspension and adjustable dampers are standard on the ABT R8 GT R. The ceramic brake system with modified brake pads has been adjusted to meet the enormous performance potential of the super sports car. The extremely light ABT CR alloys round off the package. On the front axle they are mounted in 9×19 inch and on the rear axle in 11×19 inch. The Michelin sports cup tyres are the perfect choice for the car. The ABT R8 GT R is a unique vehicle which provides maximum driving enjoyment. It has been designed for driving at the limit: from the weight-optimised exhaust unit to the ABT Titanium special coating – ABT’s love of motorsport can be seen in every detail.

This was in direct competition with the MTM GT3-2 which is a shy 560hp, But after speaking to Roland Mayer at MTM he teased us about the upcoming Twin-Turbo v10 is in development. After his experience in the Bi-Turbo audi market this should be an interesting update to the R8 Customizer market,and suspect a 680hp model.

VW Beetle Car History

Ambition two German automotive companies Volkswagen Porsche are trying to each other 'caplok' still going on even after they were declared the merger. But behind all that, did you know that in history, the big names they are very difficult to be separated.

A recent history of Volkswagen Beetle known as a very complicated and long to tell. It began on June 22, 1934 when the German domestic automotive industry associations encourage Porsche to build the Volkswagen (People's Car in the language
Germany).





The next day on June 23 became the most historic day for both the name. Because 75 years ago to coincide with this date, the German government at that time led by the Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler gave the order to Ferdinand Porsche to build a simple car concept.

Order Hitler is people's car that can carry five people (two adults and three children), the velocity 100km/jam, 14km/liter consume fuel at a price no more expensive than riding a motorcycle side.



Then made the concept of the embryo when it was Beetle called Kraft durch Freude-Wagen (KdF-Wagen), the city where this car was made given the name KdF-Stadt. KdF-Wagen poured in 30 prototype in 1937 and marketed beginning in 1938 but stopped after a time to produce 630 units due to World War II in 1939.

To temporarily diverted its factory facilities to produce vehicles like the Kubelwagen war (jeep) and Schwimmwagen (amphibious vehicle). Year 1942 appears Kommandeurwagen from KdF-Wagen base having a four Wheel /4x4.


Germany's defeat on the allies (UK, France, Russia and the U.S.) makes the country divided. KdF-Stadt mastered British Army and for their intervention and then change the name of the city to Wolfsburg. Volkswagen Vehicles for civil society began to be produced again before the World War II ended, precisely in the summer of 1945.


Civilian vehicle was also changed its name to Volkswagen or VW Beetle Kafer (in Indonesia is popularly known as the VW Beetle). Then this vehicle has become popular thanks to its simplicity, toughness and a long list of other More  and spread to different parts of the world.

In fact there are many other title names sometimes not just one. For instance in Indonesia other than the VW Beetle and the VW Beetle, he was also dubbed by our parents as a VW Sedan (although not as popular as the VW Beetle and VW Beetle).

To commemorate the history of travel at the same time affirm and strengthen the name of his Porsche, Porsche museum held an exhibition on June 23 until July 31. Car History

The first automobile patent in the United States granted to Oliver Evans in 1789; in 1804 Evans demonstrated his first automobile, which not only the first car in the U.S. but also the first amphibious vehicle, the vehicle-steam power could use the road on land and in water wheels used wheels padel.

Large-scale production-line manufacturing of affordable automobiles was debuted by Oldsmobile in 1902, and then greatly expanded by Henry Ford in the 1910s. Porsche Panamera 4S: Test drive report



Price and equipment

The naturally aspirated 4.8-litre V8 all-wheel-drive 4S sits in the middle of the three-model Panamera launch range. Priced from $282,400 (plus on-road and dealer costs), the 4S is $12,200 more than the rear-wheel-drive S and $82,500 less than the AWD Turbo flagship. Soon to be added to the line-up are two V6 models; the $193,000 RWD Panamera and the $204,400 AWD Panamera 4 (plus costs). A hybrid V6 is also on the way.

Sat-nav, a Bose six-disc sound system, sunroof, power tailgate and 14-way front powered seats are all standard but the 4S gets only part-leather trim, dual-zone (not even tri-zone) climate control and standard (not radar) cruise control. Keyless start is an option and there's no spare tyre: merely sealant and a compressor.

There is plenty of mechanical trickery, including a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, active suspension, variable AWD, fuel-saving engine stop-start and even a rear spoiler that pops up automatically at 90km/h.

Under the bonnet

The 4.8-litre V8 engine's outputs of 294kW and 500Nm are OK but not world beating.

It can burble along at low revs, barely hinting at its capabilities. But push the throttle and it comes alive like an angry bear that's just been zapped with a cattle prod. Click into "Sport" mode and the engine is sharper and PDK holds on to gears longer. In manual mode precise control is delivered, although the gear-change buttons on the steering wheel are not as intuitive as proper paddles. Nor is the PDK as smooth at launch or low speeds as a regular automatic. The stop-start function is surprisingly intrusive, switching the engine on and off, but a button can deactivate it.

Porsche claims the 4S will average 11.5 litres per 100 kilometres on premium fuel. We managed 11.0L/100km after almost 900 kilometres of varied driving.

How it drives

At cruising speeds, the 4S lacks the isolated sophistication of an S-Class or even a BMW 7-Series as there's more drivetrain whine and road noise inside.

But up the pace and the Porsche keeps getting better - gripping, accelerating, turning and stopping with an exquisite level of control. Only the steering disappoints and only because it offers less feel than a razor-sharp 911. But it is still direct, faithful to inputs and confident.

Comfort and practicality

Unlike the exterior, there are few reservations about the Panamera's interior. The use of leather, wood, aluminium and velour (carpet) is beautifully combined with a well-resolved cockpit. Buttons proliferate on the ramped centre console but their functions are easily understood.

The main issues are distracting reflections of the dash-top in the windscreen and limited rearward visibility.

The upsweep of the glasshouse beyond the door pillar also adds to an enclosed feeling in the rear. There's no shortage of head, knee and legroom but a Mercedes S-Class is better for chauffeured passengers.

By 911 standards, interior storage is exceptional but there's only one cupholder up front and two in the back.

Under the hatch you'll find a long, narrow space that fits 432 litres of luggage. Fold down the rear seats and that expands to a bicycle-swallowing 1250 litres.

Safety

The Panamera hasn't been crash tested by NCAP but there is no doubting its fundamental solidity and quality.

The 4S is well stocked with passive and active safety gear including front, side, curtain and front-knee airbags (rear-side bags are optional), a pedestrian-friendly bonnet, stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes, active bi-xenon headlights and rear parking sensors.

Overall verdict

Technically, the 4S is yet another potent and convincing Porsche. But the luxury equipment equation isn't quite so compelling, nor is the exterior styling.

Appreciating this car truly depends on your priorities. If you gain enjoyment from driving then this is your executive express. No arguments.

THERE'S no arguing with the concept of the Porsche Panamera - a luxury grand tourer that expands the legendary sports-car marque into another lucrative market segment. But the execution has caused plenty of debate, especially exterior styling that mixes elements of the iconic 911 with a rotund hatchback.

Eu vreau doar sa atrag atentia asupra unei anumite categorii de automobile, in general apreciata de cei mai fanatici sustinatori ai conservatorismului. Acum este clar ca subiectul este legat ori de un Bentley, ori de un Rolls-Royce. Mai precis, masina din aticolul de astazi este noul si mult-asteptatul Bentley Mulsanne. Cu o parte frontala dominata de grila radiatorului, flancata de farurile rotunde incercuite de inele cromate si semnalizarile separate, Mulsanne-ul pare o versiune moderna a modelelor S-Type din anii '50. Celebrul "flying B" retractabil aflat pe grila radiatorului este acum optional.
Capota lunga, consola frontala scurta si lunga consola spate lasa o impresie de putere, consolidata de "umerii" proeminenti si liniile ascutite ce merg gratios de pe aripile fata pe cele spate. Jantele unice de 20 inci (optional 21 inci) accentueaza atitudinea sportiva a masinii. Caracterul sportiv este intarit de fantele de aerisire din aripile fata si gurile de evacuare ovale, de dimensiuni foarte generoase. Caroseria este produsa intr-o noua sectie a fabricii din Crewe, unde abilitatile traditionale de prelucrare a metalului, dezvoltate de peste sase decenii, sunt inca utilizate la scara larga in decursul celor noua saptamani de fabricatie. Desi aceste procedee reprezinta tocmai opusul productiei de automobile moderne, ele sunt in esenta parte din identitatea Bentley. Si daca tot nu sunteti multumit de gradul de exclusivitate al masinii, aveti la dispozitie o infinitate de alegeri datorita celor 114 culori (care variaza de la extraordinarele culori "vintage" la vopsea satinata speciala, finisaje perlate) si combinatii de doua culori.Cele mai noi tehnologii disponibile pentru masina sunt discret plasate in interiorul somptuos al Mulsanne-ului. Masina este dotata cu un sistem multimedia cu hard disk de 40 Gb, inzestrat cu navigatie prin satelit, compatibilitate fisiere audio/video, date personale, telefon si conectivitate Bluetooth. Caseta superioara a bordului contine un ecran tactil de 8 inci, ascuns in spatele unei clapete actionabila electric. Un magnific sistem audio cu 14 difuzoare si magazie de 6 CD-uri este oferit standard, in timp ce sistemul audio premium 'Naim for Bentley' va fi oferit ca optional. Acesta promite cifre extraordinare, cum ar fi cel mai puternic amplificator disponibil intr-o masina (2200 W) si 20 difuzoare special create, toate acestea pentru o senzatie acustica inegalabila. Un sistem personalizat de intrare keyless permite configuratii multiple pre-programate si seteaza automat posturile de radio, cartea de telefon, scaunul (inclusiv ventilatie şi moduri de masaj, atât fata si spate), coloana de direcţie şi setarile centurii de siguranta si chiar actioneaza electric jaluzele geamurilor spate si lunetei. Ca o premiera, sistemul keyless operează cu manerele de otel inoxidabil ale usilor, care includ puncte de atingere pentru a iniţia comunicarea cu cheia pentru verificare si intrare. Bentley Mulsanne dispune de asemenea de sistemul 'Keyless Start', ce permite soferului sa porneasca masina de la butonul start/stop de pe consola centrala.
Calitatea materialelor folosite este "premium +", avand in vedere traditia care sta in spatele numelui Bentley. Designerul sef responsabil cu ambianta interioara, Robin Page, afirma ca procesul de fabricare al interiorului tine 170 ore, aproape jumatate din timpul total de fabricatie al unei masini. Acest timp foarte mare alocat interiorului mi se pare absolut justificat, pentru ca in comparatie cu rivalul RR Ghost, Mulsanne-ul are un interior mult mai agreabil (judecand dupa aspect, desigur; sper ca peste cativa ani, la urmatorul salon auto major de la noi sa ma conving si de calitatea materialelor).

Pentru acest model
, inginerii din Crewe au conceput un nou sasiu si au regandit celebrul motor V8 de 6,75 litri (6¾-litre V8). Rezultatele obtinute sunt impresionante : 505 CP si 1020 Nm disponibili de la 1800 Rpm. In afara de acestea, masina are in premiera pentru un vehicul amiral Bentley, o cutie automata cu 8 trepte, cu posibilitatea schimbarii vitezelor de pe volan.

In concluzie, Bentley s-a autodepasit lansand aceasta "perla a coroanei" care musca direct din clientela selecta a Rolls-Royce-ului. Creata "pentru bogati, nu pentru imbogatiti", Mulsanne este o limuzina care strange sub caroseria unica, toate virtutile unui 'flying B', fara niciuna din slabiciunile specifice marcii. Sunt sigur ca vanzarile or sa depaseasca niste valori ametitoare, pentru ca masina merita fiecare euro din totalul de 250.000 necesari achizitionarii modelului standard.

Volkswagen's next-generation Passat is expected to up the stakes against Germany’s luxury automakers, with the car’s designers hoping it will be mentioned in the same breath as the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4.

Previous spy shots have revealed a longer wheelbase will be present, and although the new car will be larger than the outgoing one, the use of lightweight materials in its construction should ensure a lighter kerb weight and improved mileage. This latest computer-generated rendering shows the wagon version or “Variant,” which is due approximately one year after the launch of the sedan in late 2011.

Under the hood, a replacement for the R36’s 3.6-liter engine will be in place, putting out close to 300 horsepower from a displacement of 3.0-liter. To improve mileage and maintain power, the new engine will also be using direct injection, while the rest of the powertrain lineup is expected to benefit from some form of forced induction as well. Other models will include a new hybrid as well as a high-performance diesel with all-wheel drive.

To give the Passat some much needed panache, Volkswagen will be pulling out all the stops to make the next-generation a technological showcase, with features that should have the traditional German luxury marques feeling a little worried. The car is tipped to feature a host of new technologies, including airless tires, a wiperless window cleaning system, and an advanced user interface. There may also be an electronic stability system with a feature that automatically offers counter-steering assistance in adverse driving conditions.

La Fiat en Brasil anunció la actualizacion de su coche Fiat Palio Fire 2011 Economy, que como novedad incluye direccion hidráulica de serie en sus modelos de dos y cuatro puertas. En cuanto al exterior recibe nueva parrilla con lineas cromadas, formato de las toma de aire con luces antiniebla, nuevo diseño de llantas, y ópticas traseras mas oscuras que vienen del modelo 1.8R. Asimismo en el interior recibe tambien algunos cambios en los paneles de puertas y tela de los tapizados.
