Upon further reviewing the spy pics of the new VW Beetle with it's slender profile, we see a very good resemblance of the original Porsche 356.
Everyone noted the strange proportions of the Beetle mule that gives the impression of a crushed and elongated current new Beetle, in effect to make it fit on a platform Jetta. This particular figure has given interest that the new Beetle will depart from the original format. As you can see on these two superimposed images, the roof line of the mule and that of the Porsche 356 are relatively close, which seems to prove that it is possible.
